Northern Utah residents have a variety of fall-themed events to choose from this week, including a demolition derby in Ogden, a unique dinosaur experience after dark, and a popular amusement park’s Halloween transformation.
The Halloween Havoc Demolition Derby is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, at the Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden, with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. This event promises an evening of competitive vehicle destruction. The ticket website describes it as a "spine-tingling event" where drivers engage in a "chaotic battle of metal mayhem," aiming to deliver "heart pounding entertainment for the whole family."
Later in the week, the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden will bring back its annual Carnivore Carnival, also known as the Dinos in the Dark Event. This popular attraction allows visitors to explore dinosaur replicas in the dark, blending the excitement of the season with the inherent fascination of prehistoric creatures. The event runs from October 15 to October 24, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The venue website invites attendees to wear their favorite costumes and enjoy a range of activities. It states that the event offers "tricks and treats" and "crafts for the little explorers," alongside "jump scares and haunted trails for those who dare."
Meanwhile, Lagoon in Farmington continues its Frightmares event, which began on October 10 and runs through November 8, with attractions opening at 5 p.m. Among its many offerings, the Fun House of Fear at Lagoon’s Frightmares has received an Oscare award for its entrance, recognized as the best for a haunted attraction. Lagoon, known as Utah’s largest amusement park, transforms for the fall season into a world of fun and thrills. The park website highlights that Frightmares provides a broad appeal, noting it has "something for everyone." The event features more than nine haunted attractions, alongside Halloween-themed entertainment, and all of the park's traditional foods, rides, and games, making it, according to the park website, "Utah’s number one destination for family friendly Halloween fun."
These events offer a range of experiences, from high-octane vehicle collisions to illuminated dinosaur exhibits and elaborate haunted attractions, providing options for residents looking to celebrate the season across Ogden and Farmington.
