The advisory was issued after a city pump station became contaminated following severe rainfall and localized flooding in the area, directly affecting the community's water supply.
Tremonton City officials took to social media on Sunday to inform residents of the situation, stating that multiple reports of dirty water had prompted an investigation. This inquiry revealed a significant accumulation of mud and sediment within a pump house, which was identified as the direct result of the recent heavy rains and subsequent flooding.
In response to the contamination, the affected pump house has been promptly taken offline to prevent further distribution of potentially compromised water. To thoroughly assess the safety of the water supply, bacterial samples have been collected from the distribution system.
