Intermountain Health McKay-Dee Hospital began construction on a new 80,000-square-foot medical office building in Ogden on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. This project aims to expand access to primary and specialty care across Weber County, with the facility planned to open in spring 2028. The new building will be located on Intermountain Health's campus, situated just north of the existing hospital.

According to a news release from Intermountain Health, the North Campus building will house primary care offices and expanded space for specialty clinics. These clinics will cover sleep medicine, diabetes, endocrinology, and pediatrics. Several clinics currently operating in the existing medical office building are expected to move into the new facility upon its opening, as stated in the same release. Healthcare Design reported that this move will consolidate various specialty clinics, from sleep medicine to pediatrics, under one roof.

Judy Williamson, president of Intermountain Health McKay-Dee Hospital, described the project as a response to regional growth. Williamson said, per the hospital system's release, that the project "represents an important investment in the health of our growing community."

Beyond adding new exam rooms, relocating clinics from the main hospital campus is intended to free up valuable space within McKay-Dee Hospital itself. The Standard-Examiner reported that this cleared space will allow for growth in surgical specialties and services tied to inpatient care. This newly available area is anticipated to support the expansion of existing specialties such as cardiology, oncology, and women's health. It will also accommodate new additions including neurosurgery, colorectal surgery, and general surgery, according to the newspaper.

Perhaps the most significant change for local residents is that this reorganization will enable McKay-Dee Hospital to offer urology and neurology services for the first time, as reported by the Standard-Examiner. The Standard-Examiner also noted that seven clinics are expected to move from the main McKay-Dee Hospital campus to the new facility, a figure that differs from the hospital system's release which described the relocation as involving "several" clinics.

This new medical office building is part of a larger ongoing expansion of Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital's North Campus. The Endoscopy Center and Porter Family Medicine Clinic recently opened on this same campus, and the Surgery Center and Sports Medicine clinic have been serving patients there for several years, according to the Journal of Healthcare Contracting.

While diabetes, endocrinology, and sleep medicine care are already offered at the existing McKay-Dee Medical Office Building—which provides all-age diabetes and endocrinology services—these are the same specialty areas slated for expanded space in the new North Campus building. Intermountain Health, headquartered in Salt Lake City, has pursued similar expansions across the state and region, including a groundbreaking for the Desert Color Parkway Clinic in southwest Utah and plans for another 80,000-square-foot medical office building. Last year, the system also broke ground on a new Copper Hills Clinic in West Jordan to expand primary care access for families, ABC4 Utah reported.

For Weber County patients, the practical benefits of these changes will not be immediately available, as the spring 2028 opening date is still more than a year away. However, the recent groundbreaking signifies a concrete step toward centralizing specialty care in a new facility while making room at McKay-Dee Hospital for surgical growth and services previously unavailable in the area.
